FESTIVE RUNS: Striders training over Christmas and New Year

'Tis the season to be jolly so why not pull on a Santa hat and go for a run this Christmas?

You don’t have to go it alone as we will have a number of organised group runs and sessions taking place between now and the New Year. There will also be the usual Saturday morning parkruns, plus an extra chance to take part in the timed 5k on New Year’s Day.

So whether you want to burn off those mince pies or hone your fitness for a New Year race, here’s what we have on offer…

SATURDAY 20 DECEMBER

Santa training run: Meet at the Orchard Cafe tea room car park, Shenley, run leaving at 8.15am. Santa hats are welcomed but not compulsory! The run is normally at a very social pace for about 6 miles but longer, faster routes are possible. The breakfasts afterwards are legendary and just what is needed to kick start the Christmas indulgences. Directions to the cafe can be found on www.shenleypark.co.uk.

Festive parkrun: 9am Verulamium Park, join in the timed 5k run in Christmas fancy dress.
