Hannah Clark

Age

39

Occupation

I am a Police Community Support Officer and have been in this role for over 10 years. I generally enjoy it and like the fact I’m outside and not sitting down all day!

Reason you started running?

I walked a race for life with my sister. After that I decided that I wanted to give running a go. One of My first races was the Royal Parks half marathon in 2009.

Favourite race distance?

When i'm ready for it, my favourite distance is Half marathon but I’m currently enjoying the longer distances, particularly on trails. I feel less pressure with time and having proper food, not gels!

Favourite running route and race?

My favourite running route is along the south west coast path. In 2018 I did the Women Can trail marathon in Devon which included a stretch of this from Budleigh Salterton to Sidmouth. Tough route but stunning views!

Running goals?

My running goal this year is to complete the Race to the king ultra marathon - 53 miles from Arundel to Winchester, in June. However i’m sure this will be postponed. So, it will still be my goal whenever it happens.

How often do you train?

I generally run 2/3 times a week but occasionally more if I’m training for a specific event. I also supplement this with weekly yoga, Pilates and body pump classes.

What motivates you?

I think having goals and targets to aim for helps keep me motivated to train. I'm less likely to slack off when its written down!

Most memorable run/race?

The Walt Disney Dopey challenge in Florida in 2017.  This is a series of 4 races which are run around the Disney parks. It begins with a 5k on day 1 followed on consecutive days  by 10k, 13.1 miles and finally 26.2 miles to complete the challenge. I had an absolute blast and the obligatory stops for photos with Disney characters made it in my eyes, amazing!

Injuries?

In General I’ve been lucky with injuries. I did suffer from shin splints when I first started running and had piriformis syndrome. This was sorted out with some physio, gait analysis and new trainers.

Other hobbies?

Horse Riding. There is nothing better after a bad day then going to spend time with horses. Although managing to break my scapula after an argument with a tree stump did make me question my choice!

I also started road cycling last year. I did the Hercules Duathlon in St Albans and loved it, so maybe more in the future!

Guilty pleasure?

My guilty pleasure is the 90's TV series,  Soldier,Soldier!
